10 THINGS – Isabelle Cornish

10 Things with Isabelle Cornish

You’ve only been acting for a few short years. What initially drew you to the entertainment industry and wanting a career as an actor?

I’ve been obsessed with acting and making movies since I was a young child. I saved up my pocket money for years to buy my first video camera at ten years old. Any spare seconds I had after school or on the weekends, I spent making funny movies and playing with different accents and characters. Acting makes me excited, it challenges me to grow and learn about people and the world. It fills my cup and I can’t imagine my life without it.

Which actors work have impressed you the most and what positive influence has it had in your own career thus far?

I am Australian, so Heath Ledger’s work is brilliant and inspiring. I am inspired by young women out there kicking goals in film or other professions. Much of my motivation comes from women in all walks of life that strive to be the best they can. I’ve had a positive impact from the great work of many young actresses. I’m inspired by the work of Chloe Grace-Moretz and Elle and Dakota Fanning for staying so grounded through their success.

You’ve done some film and mostly television work. What type of characters and roles do you tend to gravitate to?

I gravitate to characters I can relate to or that challenge me. There isn’t a character I won’t dive into. People in all walks of life can teach us something about ourselves personally, which I love.

Let’s talk about your latest project, ABC’s Inhumans. How were you first introduced to the series and what made you decide to ultimately take the role?

I’ve always been a fan of Marvel. I was lucky enough to have an opportunity to audition for the role of Crystal in late January of this year. I connected with her values and spirit as soon as I read the role. I love the way that Crystal develops through the series and I think this will be a valuable inspiration to young women.

On the show, you play the role of Crystal. What can you tell us about Crystal, the good and bad?

Crystal is a young girl learning the ways of the world. She is growing up and also facing the challenges of woman hood with superpowers. Being royal means Crystal has faced some isolation and at times life gets lonely. She is impetuous and often acts on impulse.

How does Crystal’s character interact with the rest of the characters on the show and what will be her pivotal moment in this first season?

Crystal is the youngest member of the royal family. She is loyal to her loved ones and puts her family first above everything. Lockjaw is her best friend who she has a strong best friend bond with.

Overall, what can viewers expect to see from Inhumans?

Inhumans is an untold story of a real family in extreme situations. Viewers can expect some awesome action, suspense and relation to these in-depth characters.

If you weren’t working on your career as an actor, what type of work do you think you’d be interested in?

I am a qualified yoga teacher and I have a huge love for nutrition, health and meditation. I’m actually beginning studies in natural health and nutrition at the moment. If I wasn’t acting I would like to work personally with clients to help them reach their full potential.

When it comes to fashion, which designers speak to your sense of style?

I love vintage bright colours and textures. Rock chic/girly. It’s fun to experiment with designers and fashion. Growing up in Australia I have a huge love for local fashion brands such as ‘Romance was born’ , Toni Maticevski, Ellery and Zimmerman.

We look forward to seeing how your character will develop on ABC’s Inhumans. What other projects do you have coming up?

At the moment, I’m focusing on auditions and acting classes to develop my skills. I’m also working on my health and nutrition goals.

“Marvel’s Inhumans” airs on Fridays at 9pm ET/PT on ABC.
