When did you first decide that you were going to be in the entertainment business and how did you get your start?
As far as I can remember. My mom says when I was three, I watched Barney and Blues Clues and I told her I wanted to do that inside the TV! My first job was modeling for JUSTICE, a girls clothing brand.
Which actors body of work impressed you to the point that you wanted to emulate their careers?
Halle Berry, of course. She’s been an idol for me since I was a kid because she was one of the few actresses I identified with as a little girl.
Your latest project is Free Rein, a Netflix original series. How did you first become acquainted with the project and what made you want to sign on to do it?
I hesitated at auditioning for this because the breakdown description was not me, physically I mean. However, Lime Pictures and Netflix went outside their original plan, took a chance and offered me the role. It was bittersweet for sure. This was a chance to be a lead on a show for NETFLIX! This is my first ever lead role. So, naturally I said YES and I am so grateful for the opportunity they gave me. It’s been a little difficult because in order to play Zoe, I have to leave my family and friends for nearly four months to film in Wales.
On the series, you play the role of Zoe. What can you tell us about her personality and character?
Zoe is in her head a lot, she’s always analyzing and coming up with conclusions that get her into some predicaments. However, she means well and has a big heart. She’s not afraid of taking risks and is determined to help her friends, even her frenemies when they need her the most.
What do you enjoy most about bringing Zoe’s character to life?
Her sense of humor and the fact that she’s not afraid to be herself.
Season 2 is coming to us soon. What can you share with us about what we can expect from Zoe and the rest of the cast?
Yes, I can’t wait for everyone to see it! There’s a lot more to people than you think. New friends and new enemies. Is there a new love interest? Stay tuned.
You make it look so easy when you’re working with the horses. But, we know how powerful they can be. What are some challenges you’ve had to contend with on set?
First of all, Steve Dent and the horse master Sam are incredible! The stunt doubles are amazing. They make me look great, so I will always be grateful for them. Horses think like cats LOL. They are so particular and if they decide they aren’t filming anymore, they will not move! They nudge you out of their way and it feels like a car bumped you, so lots of bruises for sure. However, you can’t help but love them and I love the horses I get to work with. I miss them when I come home.
If you weren’t working on a career as an actor, what type of career would you want in place of it?
I can honestly say this is all I see myself doing…ever.
When it comes to fashion, which designers fit your personal sense of style?
That is a tough one because I’m all over the place with fashion. I don’t have a set look. I like to buy from everywhere, whether that’s designer brands or Target. Romeo Hunte is one of my favorites though, I love his designs and of course Chanel!
We look forward to seeing how things will develop on Free Rein. What other projects do you have coming up in the near future?
I’m working on an animation project right now and a movie is in the wings as well. I can’t speak on these, but I’m excited to bring my fans new projects for them to hopefully enjoy.
