10 THINGS with Malina Moye

RM: From what we know, you’re quite the movie enthusiast. What are some of your favorite films?

MM: I love scary movies. I will stay up late, in any country, to watch a spooky flick. I love the Chainsaw Massacre films and anything that is based on true story like the Conjuring, Amityville Horror, and The Exorcist to name a few.

RM:You are so talented with the guitar. How did you get your start playing it?

MM: I’m naturally left-handed and learned to play the guitar upside-down. My dad would leave the room and I’d take a right-handed a guitar and flip it over. It felt natural, so, I just went with it.

RM: Saying that you have a sweet tooth, is an understatement! What are your favorite guilty pleasures?

MM: I love desserts. My favorites are cheesecake (of all varieties, especially white chocolate raspberry), Banana Cream Pie, and I love hot chocolate cake from the oven.

RM: What’s the story with you and slow driving?

MM: I love exotic cars, yet, I don’t drive on the freeways. I’m pretty much a 45 MPH driver. My brothers always make fun if me, because I drive a Porsche, but I will only drive 25/40 MPH. I know it’s sad, but just like playing a beautifully crafted guitar, I like the look and feel of a well-engineered vehicle.

RM: What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

MM: I love holidays and any excuse to celebrate anything and everything! If you get a promotion or received an A on a paper, let’s celebrate! I’ll be the first person ready to take you to dinner and do something exciting for you.

RM: We love that! On the outside, you’re a beautiful, well-talented musician. What don’t we know about you personally?

MM: I’m faithful and loyal! I think it’s important to be able to love and trust. When you allow someone to see your soul and who you are, it’s the most intimate you can be with anyone. I don’t take my friendships or relationships lightly.

RM: You’re an animal lover. What interesting background can you share with us regarding your pet?

MM: I have a cat named Cocobama named after Coco Chanel and President Obama! I rescued Cocobama the night Senator Barack Obama won the election for the Presidency. The shelter people called her Annie (as in orphan Annie) and I felt she deserved a different name.

RM: In the entertainment industry, rejection is part of the game. How do you handle this?

MM: When someone tells me “no,” I hear something different. What I hear you say is “not now!” I was raised, that if there’s something you want, you have to go get it, and rejection is just par for the course. It’s how you handle the “no’s” that determine your character and strength.

RM: We all love a good “rags to riches” story. What’s your take on it?

MM: I always root for the underdog! I love to see the people who come from nothing or the person that you think wouldn’t ordinarily win, beat everyone. I love movies like that! I’m sure everyone has seen Rudy—a great story on so many levels about never giving up, and hanging in there because you believe it’s what’s meant to be. It’s really hard to live that way, so, when you see people or characters that exude this, you can’t help but cheer them on!

RM: Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us. Any last words?

MM: I truly feel blessed and thankful for this 10 Things feature! I’m so excited about my life and love just about everyone. I feel I’ve had a chance to meet so many people who have helped to get me to this point in my career and I’m forever grateful, always wishing love, luck and prosperity right back. Like Alicia Keys says, we all must spread love and light, because it’s contagious!
