GET the LOOK! – Beach Waves

For the April issue, we did a gorgeous editorial with Jaime Ray Newman, who plays Kat Petrov on ABC’s Red Widow.  To compliment the beautiful dresses by Adrianna Papell, I thought a nice wave would work well for her hair and I love how it came out!  I get a lot of questions on how to achieve this look and surprisingly enough, it is not hard at all. You can achieve it in 5 steps….

Dry your hair without making it too straight. You can use your fingers to scrunch handfuls of hair (the waves will hold better).
Curl: Section your hair so that you can start at the neckline and work up. Take about 2 inch sections, hold the wand vertical and wrap your hair around the curling wand going away from your face.  The curl will hold better if you lightly spray each section you are going to curl with a quick drying spray ( Iuse Redken quick dry 18).

Work your way to the top and front curling each section.
Allow the curls to cool before combing through.  Next, add a few drops of shine serum along the hair strands. One of my favorite brands is Biosilk Silk Therapy, it’s light and doesn’t weigh the hair down.
5  For body and hold, spray with a flexible spray, (I use Big Sexy Spray and Play) then use your fingers or a wide tooth comb to loosen the waves.

And VÓila, You have goreous waves!!     -Valerie
