On Trend – Hologramma!

Just around the corner, the first official day of summer will be here, and I can’t wait! There are so many cool trends this year, much different from any that I’ve previously covered. My favorite so far is the holographic craze! Seen on the runways of Blumarine, Jonathan Saunders, and Hussein Chalayan, this galactic iridescent fad is HOT, strange and fabulous! Even the ever conservative & classy brand, Kate Spade, is embracing this trend, so it’s really attainable and affordable. It can also look a little trashy so be careful.

Here are a few tips to get you going & keeping it stylish:

• Make it CASUAL – Try a cool T-shirt with hologram detail in a casual weekend outfit. With high waisted shorts and funky wedge sandals, you’ll be the best dressed at the bar-b-que.
• Make it FANCY – Try spicing up your outfit for a night out with a holographic top or bottom. Be sure it’s not too tight or revealing. You certainly don’t want to cross the sleaze line and look like a galactic street walker.
• Make it SIMPLE – If wearing this iridescent trend as a clothing option is too much, try it in an accessory. Stella McCartney has a line of holographic electronic accessories like iPad holders and iPhone cases. You can also try a flashy pair of shoes or earrings. This way you can still participate in the trend!
