RED CARPET – 2016 Oscars Red Carpet | 88th Academy Awards

This year’s 2016 Oscars Red Carpet for the 88th Academy Awards was a huge and shimmering event as always. This year, Hollywood’s biggest night, featured funny man Chris Rock at the helm as the Host of the show. He had an enormous task of navigating this year’s Oscar controversy, the lack of diversity in the nominations, but he did a good job hosting with his usual comedic style.

The Red Carpet trend for Oscars showed a turn to the classics for colors and design. The gowns were very stylish and tasteful with black gowns surprisingly being the most popular, white and cream dresses came in second place and vivid colors sprinkled in.

Here are our favorite looks of the night…..

The hot color of the night, black, was worn by Julianne Moore (in a halter Chanel), Kate Winslet in a strapless liquid black silk lame Ralph Lauren gown, Whoopi Goldberg in an off-the-shoulder full skirt gown,  Jennifer Garner in a one shoulder Atelier Versace and Mindy Kaling who wore a gorgeous column dress by Elizabeth Kennedy, with a sheer blue train.

Rooney Mara in white Givenchy Haute Couture, Prianka Choprain white Zuhair Murad chose curve fitting lace dresses that gave the illusion of seeing skin through the fabric. I loved Lady Gaga in a white strapless jumpsuit (by her stylist, Brandon Maxwell) with a flowy skirt/train giving maximum old Hollywood drama!!

Kerry Washington dazzled in an edgy black bustier and white flowy skirt by Atelier Versace. Brie Larson in Gucci, Tina Fey in Versace, Charlize Theron in Dior Haute Couture and Olivia Munn in Stella McCartney brought the bright pops of color to the carpet with their gowns.

The guys like Henry Cavill, Leonardo DiCaprio, John Legend and Matt Damon brought us back to the classic look of the traditional well tailored black tuxedo, white shirt and black bow-tie combo. Common, however,  made a statement in an all white tuxedo with black bow-tie by Dolce & Gabbana.

The couples and duos on the red carpet stood out for their coordinated looks. Naomi Watts stood out in her dark sequined Armani Prive that husband Liev Schreiber chose for her. John Legend and Chrissy Teigen continue striking the right chord with Chrissy wearing a beautifully beaded Marchesa gown with John in a classic fitted tuxedo. Sylvester Stallone looked sharp in a non traditional styled Tuxedo that was tailored to perfection while his wife, Jennifer Flavin, looked amazing in a classic Goddess style gown with a high slit.

Who had your favorite looks? See you at the Oscars next year, for more glamour, style and of course, awards!
