RED CARPET – Met Gala 2015

The theme of the 2015 The New York Metropolitan Museum of Art and Costume Institute’s Gala (Met Gala) this year was— “China: Through the Looking Glass.” This Gala kicks off The Costume Institute’s Spring/Summer 2015 exhibition ( May 7–August 16, 2015) presented in the Museum’s Chinese Galleries and Anna Wintour Costume Center. It features more than 140 examples of fashion style and design, along with Chinese art as examples of how Chinese aesthetics has influenced Western fashion.

Of course, The Met Gala is a Hollywood A-list extravaganza, and bigger than the Oscars with a dramatic 150 ft red carpet that sweeps up a lavish staircase into the Metropolitan Museum of Art! This is the undisputed fashion party of the year! With the theme in place, many celebs featured Chinese influences in their gowns. Imperial Red and Gold seemed to be a favored color theme by Reese Witherspoon, Rita Ora, Helen Mirren, Anne Hathaway, Kate Hudson and super sexy barely there lace dresses made a splash with Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez and Joanne Smalls.

The super eccentric looks came from Sarah Jessica Parker, Solange Knowles, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Zendaya and of course, Rhianna with her gigantic chartreuse coat dress. Classic colors and style were the picks for Taraji P. Henson, Uma Thurman, Kate Mara, Madonna, Katie Holmes, Julianne Moore, Selena Gomez and Janelle Monae.
