Velvet is traditionally a lush holiday fabric, but it’s still super cold outside, and old fashion rules were made to be broken.

This is a great time of year to wear velvet because it can be worn as a transitional fabric.

  • Velvet can be very elegant but can also look cheap so make sure the “piles” are thick and not sparse. In other words, you want plush, thick velvet, not short and thin.
  • Velvet always looks more rich and expensive in darker colors.
  • Beware of light, fruit colored velvet! I do love velvet, and if you have an aversion to faux fur, this is a great fabric to use to get a similar opulent, rich look. Enjoy!    -Micah
