10 Things about Blair Lamora
Thank you for speaking to us. Let’s start from the beginning. How did your acting career take off?
Thanks for taking the time! When I was younger I was accepted into a theatre program at a specialized arts high school which sparked my passion for acting. Shortly after I graduated I began taking acting classes for film/ television and got an agent. I began auditioning – tried and failed a lot, eventually booked a commercial, slowly started to level up and the rest is history.
You’re currently starring in the TV show “SHORESY”. Can you tell us about your character and what initially attracted you to this role?
Ziigwan is a fiery, confident, opinionated, loudmouth, who’s one of two assistants to the GM of the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs. What attracted me to Ziig is that she may come off as an aggressive hothead but she has a fierce love for those she cares about. Her love and loyalty occasionally show through her hard exterior, making me interested in growing with her.
How has the experience of working on “SHORESY” been for you so far?
Working on Shoresy has been a surreal experience. To work on a project with such an incredible team makes every day a blast. I’m grateful to work alongside people who are willing to take risks and encourage others to have fun with the work.
What can viewers expect to see from your character and the rest of the cast in this upcoming season of “SHORESY”?
You can expect to see a ton of cutthroat chirps and epic game plays but you really have to expect the unexpected. This season the Bulldogs go until they can’t go no more. Get your bums in a seat because this team is facing new challenges and it’s one hell of a time!
When it comes to fashion, how would you describe your personal sense of style?
If I had to describe my personal style I’d say it’s late 90s alt-rock street wear. All black, leather, with an ode to indie sleaze since I’m still a Tumblr girl at heart. I grew up watching a lot of 90s/y2k vampire movies/shows and I think that influenced the darker aesthetic that now feels impossible to step away from.
Do you have any fashion icons or sources of inspiration?
A lot of the music and movies I overindulged in growing up really inspire me. Horror/fantasy movies like Queen of the Damned and Underworld, rock/alternative music like Evanescence, Paramore, Lana Del Rey. They inspired me in different ways to want to create a life filled with passion and art with the eerie enchantment of a darker melancholic lens.
Regarding travel, do you have any favorite travel destinations and is there a place you haven’t been yet, but really want to visit?
My favourite place to visit is New York. The energy is electric, the food is yummy, and it’s a creative playground. I have a lot of loving memories of spending time in Queens with my family. Fingers crossed one day I make my way back there permanently. In the meantime, I’m itching to go to Argentina or Spain. My mother’s family is from both places and I haven’t been to either of them so I think it’s time to change that soon.
What’s next for you? Can you share any details about your upcoming projects?
Can’t quite say what the future holds yet but it’s definitely going to be fun. Some quality time with my loved ones and a few personal projects in very early stages that expand outside of acting. You’ll just have to stay tuned for the fun when I can share more.
How do you manage to balance your work with your personal life, given your busy schedule?
Take it day by day, and have a good agenda! I’m a Virgo, haha. Honestly, staying present when I have moments of quality time with my loved ones helps me stay more connected/grounded when I go back to work. I’m extremely work-oriented and travel quite a bit but I have learned the importance of listening to your body and slowing down to enjoy the journey and its many glimmer moments.
Lastly, what advice would you give to aspiring actors who are just starting out?
Jump into every opportunity courageously! Find people who align with your goals and learn as much as you can. No one is going to cheer you on harder than yourself, so don’t give up on your dream. It’s closer than you think.
