Get to know entrepreneur, Daniel Buezo, Co-Founder and CEO of Kids of Immigrants
Daniel, thanks for taking the time to speak with us. Let’s dive right into it. Can you tell us about the new “Family Reunion” capsule collection and your ongoing partnership with Buchanan’s Whisky?
“Family Reunion” capsule with Buchanan’s is about the celebration of friends and family. It’s funny, this past weekend was my cousin’s birthday and it was just big family reunion, food, music and of course Buchanan’s. These reunions keep our culture and roots alive, 200%. Our partnership with Buchanan’s is unique and special for our community. We create products, dinners, events and more with our community and loved ones in mind. Each capsule has benefitted a non-profit and we have invested in many small businesses.
What inspired you to create this second merch collaboration with Buchanan’s Whisky?
Honestly, it’s the intention. This is bigger than the product, it’s how we work together to pay it forward.
Can you share more about the ethos of Kids of Immigrants and your collaboration with Buchanan’s Whisky?
Kids Of Immigrants was built to inspire and represent our immigrant communities through the medium of apparel. We aim to empower and celebrate our people. Working with Buchanans, thats what we do!
Your collaborations also have a strong philanthropic element. Can you tell us more about that?
It’s dope to align a partnership with a company that believes in your ideas and are willing pay it forward. Buchanan’s pushes for that and enables us to do it in a higher scale.
What message do you hope to convey through this collection and your work with Kids of Immigrants?
I hope that our community see’s themselves in these campaigns, that they feel inspired by the movement. That we can create a space of belonging to our community and feel the power of being immigrants.
How do your personal experiences influence your work and the vision for Kids of Immigrants?
My work is based on my life, what I saw missing growing up is what I aspired to become. As a first generation Honduran-American, I never saw myself in popular culture and my role models did not necessarily look like me. So when we started the brand along with my co-founder Weleh Dennis, our aim was to be the leader we are waiting for.
What are your future goals for Kids of Immigrants and your collaborations?
KIDS OF IMMIGRANTS WORLDWIDE, to be inspired and be inspiring.
