You’re a Parenting Expert and getting so much exposure truly helping people. How do you manage being a psychologist, radio host, tv host and celebrity parenting coach, and author with 3 kids yourself?
When you love what you do, it motivates you. I get excited to start my day knowing I’m making a positive impact on someone’s life. I chose this career path because I want to help others. I do make it a priority to put my family first, but I want my children to know, especially my daughters that we can have it all- have a successful career and be a mom who’s there for them too.
Women are built to be amazing mothers, and since this is our very special woman’s issue, share with us some leading ladies in your life that have motivated you. Famous or not!
My mom was my first female role model. At a young I was able to see how a strong woman in my house was able to manage a career and take care of a family. I love Michelle Obama. Watching how she interacts with others and how she commands the room, shows me how women can be compassionate and be a strong leader at the same time.
Social media has been a big part of your platform. What are some parenting tips you can share to help parents navigate raising kids in a digital world in 2020?
Social media has been my biggest platform to share my expert parenting tips. It is rewarding knowing that there are parents across the globe who reach out to me saying that the tips I share and the realities of parenting struggles help them with their parenting journeys. I’m a psychologist and have trained for years on behavior, and I will never recommend a strategy without implementing the same tips in my home with my own children. Why? Because it needs to be simple, practical and I want to be able to say it does work because I use it!
What is the best advice you have ever received and how did it help your business grow?
There are a couple that have really stuck with me through this journey.
- Obstacles are opportunities to learn.
- Asking for help is a strength.
When it comes to fashion, as a business woman who do you draw inspiration from for your everyday working wardrobe?
There is this stereotype that women who are in the corporate world or in health or wellness fields like myself have to conform to business suits with neutral colors. I disagree. I love bright colors and you will often see me in colored and statement dresses. I take risks with fashion. I love trends, but also pull from what I’m feeling at the moment. I think it’s important to stick with what you feel confident in and what makes you feel your best. It’s ok to create a style or trend. Be that woman that younger girls look up to and want to be like.
What exciting new ventures and projects do you have coming up in the near future?
I just launched my own talk show- PARENTOLOGY! My goal is to have a show for parents addressing all the challenges we have raising kids. Not only am I fortunate to have celebrity guests but we talk about the realities of parenting. Each episode focuses on a topic that j can help provide tools and insight about. I also have a fun clothing line coming out with my label- Parentology. I wanted to add some parent humor to shirts and hoodies that our parent community can wear around. At the end of the day we are all one and in this together. I am also working on my third children’s book.
