10 Things about Hunter Clowdus
You’re originally from Chattanooga, TN. When did you realize that you wanted be an actor and how did you initially get your start?
I am! I always loved creating and storytelling. I remember as a child, I was continuously shooting short skits and scenes with my friends and family, but I wasn’t aware it could be a career. I spent the majority of my childhood on the field playing sports. It was not until I attended college and ventured into modeling that I realized I could seriously pursue acting. I started with a small role on MTV’s “Teen Wolf” and have been solely focused on sharpening my sills since then.
As you came up, which actors body of work made an impact you and helped steer you in the right direction for your own career?
I honestly try to learn something from everyone. I think each individual has such an interesting and fascinating story. Whether it was on television, film, or simply observing people around me, I think that is where I have tried be hyperconscious of my surroundings. Admittedly, there are a couple legends that come to mind who I have always enjoyed and been inspired by are Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt.
Growing up, you played a lot of sports. It’s no surprise then to see you attached to a show like CW’s All American. How were you first introduced to the show and what made you excited to be a part of it?
My manager contacted me to share he had a great role for a football series! I took a look and it was right up my alley. I will say though, at that time, I had no idea that it would turn into what it has. Honestly, it’s been a beautiful surprise. I think that is what happens when you tell a great story. When you strive to shine light on the truth. It resonates heavy and the process snowballs into so much more than just a role or TV show, but a voice for the people.
On the series, you play the role of JJ Parker. What can you tell us about his personality on and off the football field?
YES! I tell you, I really love this guy. I would totally be friends with him! He is charismatic, fun loving, and always down for a good time. Although he is all about parties off the field, he also has a giant heart. He truly cares about his friends and tries to make everyone get along and have a laugh. He is a good guy to have in your corner.
What do you enjoy most about bringing JJ’s character to life?
The energy I get to exude! With the show shedding light on serious issues, I really enjoy being able to lighten the mood, and give fans a laugh. The writers do an excellent job keeping the heartbeat of the show pretty steady, but also allowing these fun outrageous moments with JJ to happen and keep a smile on everyone’s faces, including mine.
As the season progresses, what can viewers expect to see from JJ and the rest of the players on the team?
So many answers are coming! Currently, there are a several question marks and what ifs within the story. Every decision will seriously affect his status and well-being. I believe by the end of this season almost every single question will be answered.
When you’re not working on set, what are some activities you usually enjoy doing on your free time?
I absolutely love working out! I know, crazy. I have so much fun trying new workouts and routines and exercises, I am like a kid at recess. I also like gaming! When I am resting or looking for something chill to do, I will hop on my PC and play a game called “Fortnite” with my friends! I like it because it forces you to think compared to most games. It is like a super-fast paced chess game which I love.
Suppose you weren’t working on your acting career. What could you see yourself doing instead?
I am a big fan of numbers and problem solving. I think a career securing deals on Wall Street or pursuing a career in law or politics would be right up my alley. I think all are super competitive and the hardest working person usually wins. I love anything that requires immense work.
When it comes to fashion, which designers appeal most to your personality and sense of style?
Designers are so wildly bold and creative. I am always floored by their willingness to just do. Create. Make. They are practitioners of actions speak louder than words which I respect so much. That said, I will rock just about anything. Especially if we are talking events or carpets. I am pretty fearless myself. Although, in regards to personal style, I like to keep it pretty casual, fitted, and soft.
We look forward to seeing more of you on All American. What other projects do you have coming up?
I am looking forward to riding this wave with you guys and I certainly think “All American” is just getting started. That said, while my main focus is definitely with the show right now, I do have some passion projects in the works, and of course the beginning of a new year always provides an incredible amount of creative work and projects out here in LA. I am ready to see what is in store!
