You’re well known for your appearances on dance shows like So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing With the Stars. How have these opportunities helped your career with dancing?
Well, being on such big shows definitely gave me a lot of exposure. In any career field, the more exposure, the better!
What was the turning point for you jumping into acting?
I have always loved acting, and I’ve been training for as long as I can remember! After SYTYCD, I was able to be seen by many casting directors who watch the show, which, in turn, opened up the doors into my acting career.
You’ve done a little bit of both films and television. Is there a particular platform that you lean to most?
I love the process of films!! Especially because you get to go on location a lot. But, if I were to be a series regular on a show, I would love that just as much!
You’ve worked with Ashton Kutcher, Natalie Portman, and other stars. Which actors work do admire and which ones would you like to work with in the future?
Jennifer Lawrence! I respect her as an actor and person! It would be a dream to work with her.
With success comes responsibility and that can be a lot for your a young actress. How do you stay grounded?
Most definitely, my family. I am always in contact with them, and try to visit as much as I can. My parents are very good with keeping me in check, and I also never want to let them down. So, being a positive role model to my younger siblings is always priority.
Speaking of success, you’re in the upcoming film, Teen Beach 2. What did you like about the first one that made you decide to be a part of the second installment?
Our Teen Beach cast is just incredible! I couldn’t imagine passing up an opportunity to be “stuck” in Puerto Rico with all of them.
In the movie, you play the role of Giggles. What did you like most about your character and what can fans of the film expect to see?
I love that Giggles has made an impact with her iconic “shake.” Everywhere I go, if someone recognizes me from the movie, they immediately do the “Giggles Shake.” Fans will see Giggles get a little more “humanized” as she transfers into the modern day world!
Can you tell us about your lead role in the TV movie Double Daddy?
My character’s name is Amanda. She goes through many trials throughout the movie. She deals with her boyfriend cheating on her and the early hardships of being a teen mom.
Besides acting and dancing, what other aspirations do you have and are working towards?
Well I am also a musician, so I am constantly writing and working towards making more music!
When it comes to your fashion sense, which designers fit your personal style?
My favorite clothing brands are Nasty Gal and Topshop! I love that I can have the option of dressing really girly and cute or flip it to grungy and edgy!
