10 Things about Avenue Beat
When did your love for music begin and how did you all decide to form the band?
I think that each of us had our own special relationship with music growing up. Whatever it was, it brought us all to our local community theater where we met and started singing together! We had similar styles and it was an immediate connection. We knew that we wanted to start creating our own music, and the rest is history. – Sami
Who are each of your musical influences?
We all grew up listening to VERY different things, haha. Sam didn’t know anything other than country music until we were like 13. Sami grew up listening to classic rock, and I would blast top 40 on the radio. Blending all of our styles and influences together is a big reason we sound the way we do. – Sav
What was the inspiration behind your latest single, “F2020″?
I mean, basically, just how horrible this year was, hahahaha. Every lyric is authentic to how the year went down for us and we wanted to put it out there, to feel a little less alone. The reaction to it really blew us away – Sam
How would you describe your sound in three words?
Whatever we feel! – Sami
Who is each of your dream collaborators?
Ooooooh. There are endless people we’d love to collaborate with but if we each had to pick just one to put out there into the universe it’d be as follows:
Sam: Ariana Grande
Sami: Hozier
Savana: Phoebe Bridgers
What message do you want listeners to gain from your music?
Just that whatever horrible circumstances you’re experiencing, you’re not alone, because we’re out here experiencing it right with you. We’ve always turned to music as an escape and a coping mechanism. And, if what we create can be that for someone, that’s really what it’s all about. – Sam
What advice would you give to others working towards a career in music?
You have to find a way to love the not so good parts, because there are some things that suck and take a lot out of you. But, if you can find a way to make some of it more fun, you’re more likely to do it. You have to always remember that it’s hard work and won’t happen overnight. Putting in the time is the most important part. – Sami
How has your songwriting progressed throughout the years?
I think our songwriting has progressed so much over the years, starting with when we moved to Nashville, because we really learned how to channel our emotions. Like whatever we were feeling in the room that day, we can have a little songwriting therapy session and vent and get it all out into the universe, all the while crafting a really dope song. I think we’ve really honed in on saying exactly what we want to say, which can be tricky when writing. – Sav
What was your experience like working with Jessie Reyez on the “F2020” Remix?
She sent us a DM when the song was initially released and we were so star-struck! We’ve been fans or hers for years, so it was so surreal. When we heard her verse for the first time, we were shook. She freaking nailed it! It was a really awesome new layer to add to the song. – Sami
What can fans look forward to in 2021?
NEW MUSIC!!!!!!!!! FINALLY !!!!!!!!!! :)))) We’ve had so much time in 2020 to create and 2021 is going to be the year of putting it all out there. We’ve got big plans and can’t wait to share it all with the fans. We can’t thank them enough for taking such a challenging year and making it a little better.
